Farewell, Paul Newman

Paul Newman was one of my favorite actors.  "The Sting" and "The Verdict" two of my favorite movies.  (The latter my favorite lighting in a film.)  When I look at a person like Newman, the completeness of his life; the creativity of his acting, the risk-taking of his racing, the compassion of his philanthropy, I am inspired to do more with my own.  I had always hoped there would be another Redford-Newman film and I had always hoped I would run into him at the track at Lime Rock.  Sadly, those things never happened.  Now, guys my age are left to wonder to who we should be when we grow up.

Treasure of Eden

My good friend S L Linnea's book "Treasure of Eden" is soon to be released.  Wednesday October 1st from 10AM to noon is the official Amazon hour.  So order the book at that time to increase its visibility in various lists.

Where Have I Been?

I took the summer off from blogging.  Actually, it wasn't intentional but now that summer is over in the astronomical sense, it's as good an excuse as any.  Back in July, I spent two weeks in Canterbury, UK producing a daily video journal for the Anglican Communion's Lambeth Conference.  Some of the video segments I, and a wonderful crew from Trinity Wall Street,  produced covered the conference's chaplaincy program, the Bible study, the Bishop's photo shoot, the stewards and a conversation on homosexuality.

Overall, the tone of the event was refreshingly civil.  That may have been due to the boycott by some African bishops and the fact that Gene Robinson was not invited.  I wonder how things would have gone if all parties were present.  Some of my best memories of the trip; tea with the Queen (seriously), our late night Wii bowling games, and the Italian restaurant in Canterbury.

Gordon Brown's speech on poverty at Lambeth palace was great.  He is an amazing speaker in person.
